SO!!!!!We've done it! We've run the marathon! and it was thoroughly unbelievable... INSANE!!!GO NAKED MAN! Come on the Indians! wo!wo!wo!wo!wo!wo!wo!wo!wo!wo!wo!wo!wo!wo!wo!wo!wo!wo!wo!wo!wo!wo!wo!wo!!!!!AND a TV interview thanks to the loin cloths and a spot at the beginning where the sheer beauty and magnificence of the Totem pole was aired live on the BBC at the begining!Everyone who ran did amazingly and we'll all be back for more in some shape or form! NOW THOUGH THE REAL WORK BEGINS!As many of you know, I have been lucky enough to live with the Patamona and Macushi for 7 months during 2001 and 2002. I shared some amazing times with them and they taught me a great many things - far more than I taught them! Amazing people who have so much to give to the world thanks to their beautifully intricate and civilised Culture. But they are in threat of losing hope in their futures and abandoning it all for a life of poverty on the streets of the slums of south america. This cannot happen. They asked me, when I come back to set up something that will help them to help themselves... NOT CHARITY BUT OPPORTUNITY...Wakupe! is here to do that! We aim to inspire them to use their own beautiful and unique Culture to bring whatever they need to them. Be that education, training, jobs, consultants... whatever they decide they need and can justify we aim to help them get it. Wakupe! is a friendship that will give them access to the best that the World has to offer. Their dream is coming true. But now it's up to you! As you know, 15 of us here RAN! (I still cant believe it's over!)the Flora London Marathon 2004. It really did hurt but not as much as the death of a people's Culture would if we fail! Jesuit Missions is offering us and the Amerindians their incredible infrastructure and expertise so that we are able to make the difference that Wakupe! dreams and exists for. THE PATAMONA AND MACUSHI AMERINDIANS NEED YOUR HELP.... please donate whatever you feel you can! ENJOY!!!!
