UPDATE: We all did it! It was definitely the hardest and most painful thing we've ever done (deliberately), but thanks to an awesome support team and quite a few painkillers, we managed it in 26hrs 30mins.
Never again...

Hello and welcome to the Team Walkers And Talkers home page - We are the Nice Team For Doing Nice Things! This year we are doing Nice Things for Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust (GWT). Specifically we are following in the footsteps of the legendarily tough soldiers from Nepal... Since we can't easily get to the Himalayas we have to settle with the South Downs and one of their training marches. 100kms of hard chalk paths in high summer is the sort of route Gurkhas do before breakfast but we'd like to do it in under 24 hours. That's over 9,803 double decker buses (or more than 2 marathons back to back). Oxfam are well known for their excellent poverty and disaster relief work around the world - http://www.oxfam.org.uk/ GWT works specifically with the ex-servicemen and the widows and families of the Gurkhas, on poverty relief, medical aid and education. These guys are truly remarkable soldiers and often poorly recognised servants of the UK. As well as their military service they have a big impact on the communities in which they are stationed in the UK. For instance, coming from the top of the world, where they are around 500 miles from the ocean, they learn to swim and then do it over the English Channel to raise money for small British charities! - http://www.gwt.org.uk/ Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy, secure and efficient: Oxfam and the GWT get your money automatically and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. We all know this isn't the best time be asking for donations but anything you can give will make huge differences to many people and is gratefully received (although if you give less than a fiver, probably best to go by a fake name...) Thanks very much in advance.
