My story

Hello...

Firstly thank you to everyone who sponsored me last year and helped me raise, once again, an amazing total of £3000.00 for Spinal Research.

I've just completed my 3rd London Marathon for Spinal Research, and it was torture, I can tell you... It was cold wet and miserable and the slowest one I've done to date.. Which means I have to do it all again next year.. mad fool that I am...

For those of you who don't know...this is why I do it!!!!

...Apart from my obvious love of lycra.... many of you will be aware that I suffered two crushed vertebrae in a car crash a few years back and I know only too well what a narrow escape I had from permanent disability, so consider myself incredibly lucky to be able to run this race at all. This is why I put so much effort into training for the marathon. 26 miles is a long way (believe me) and involves a huge number of training miles - (my feet are not pretty).. And the worst thing is you put in all these miles and still get passed by a Cornish Pasty... At least I beat the Bakewell Tart this year...  

And finally,.....

Inevitably, I now have to ask you for your support and it's the bit I'm not so good at, but this is a really worthwhile cause and at the end of the day if you donate... you don't need to do the run!!!  Please put your hands in your pockets and donate whatever you can... every little helps!!

Spinal Research is a pioneering charity. Its aim is to find ways to repair spinal cord injury and reverse the paralysis that results from it. Based in the UK and recognised as a leader in its field, Spinal Research funds groundbreaking projects at scientific and medical institutions around the world. The next landmark is the launch of clinical trials with paralysed volunteers. These trials will test innovative treatments that could repair damage in the human spinal cord, and so restore sensation and movement.
