Two years ago I did one of the 3 big charity events that normal people are reckless and stupid, the Flora London Marathon 2007. After battling the 2nd hottest Marathon on record with 4 hours and 37 minutes of running/walking/cursing/pain, I finished 17,998 out of the 35,701 finishers with jubilation and raised a massive £5,866.00 for KAB. KAB are still doing excellent work helping the blind and partially sighted people to live in this visual world. For example, how do you know when your cup of tea is full if you can't see the water level? KAB has the solution and many others to what we think are simply everyday things. My initial target is to find 26 sponsors each sponsoring me just £1 per mile for the 26 miles of the London Marathon. This way it will me help motivate myself to "earn" that little bit more when I reach the dreaded wall, carry on, and finish.
Don't be put off sponsoring smaller amounts as any contribution will be gratefully received by KAB and me. I will run half marathons (£13) or even single miles (£1) if it raises more money for KAB! :o)
Donating through the justgiving website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me. The Kent Association for the Blind gets your money faster via Justgiving.com and, if you’re a taxpayer, the 28% Gift Aid is automatically added to your donation. In addition for those "fortunate" to pay 40% tax, you will also receive an automatic receipt for the donation that you can use to claim back an additional 15% (I think that's the amount) on your tax return.
A genuine many thanks for your support, a 2nd (and probably last) time.
