Our Mission

We are a group of rowers from the Goring Gap Boat Club, Wallingford RC and Reading RC that have come together in an effort to raise money for WaterAid.

As I'm sure you're aware 2007 has been a bit of a flooding disaster - many of our annual rowing events have been cancelled due to poor river conditions. It's been a big disappointment, especially the Goring & Streatley regatta which took so much effort and time to organise.

It's good to put things into perspective - however bad our rowing season it's nothing compared to the poorer nations of the world where flooding and the lack of clean water are a matter of life and death.

As a result we've decided to put our thoughts into action...

Our Event

A long distance row along the Thames from Oxford to Pangbourne - over 30 miles. Our rowers are of all ages and experience, but many have only started rowing this year. This challenge is no gentle Sunday afternoon paddle, we anticipate lots of blisters, rather sore bums and aching backs....combined with a great sense of achievement.

                                               8th October 2007

                           We Made It!

32 miles (50km) of strenuous rowing and 10 locks successfully negotiated in just 7.5 hours....a great effort by all involved.

We'd like to thank everyone who has contributed to the success of the day, in particular those who have generously donated and sponsored us. We are proud to have made a difference and sincerely thank all who have contributed to WaterAid. We are confident that the money raised will make a real difference to those less fortunate than ourselves.

There is still time to donate - we'd very much appreciate your help.

Thank you again for your support
