Hi! POST MARATHON UPDATE: Well - I did it!! It's taken me 3 days to recover and has given me a lifetime of memories. It took me ever so slightly longer than anticipated 7:18:36 - with masses of help from my new coach Fye (cheers hun - wouldn't have done it without you!) Also - the thought of raising so much for Save the Rhino spurred me on - I was working out how much each step was raising - but lost count at £16.36!! Thanks so much for all your support - if you are visiting this site for the 1st time - it really is not too late to sponsor - i'm still a couple of pounds short of my target - so please help!! For those that have already been so generous - again - thank you. Update: Thursday 23 April: Just been to pickup my running bib and chip - to find I have been given a new number - which means I am now starting from the GREEN start - rather than the red. This only makes a difference if you are cheering me on for the 1st 3 miles - as it is a slight different route (unfortuntely - no shorter!!). After deliberating for some time- I have decided this year to go all out and try and do something quite unique - ie I'll only be doing it the once! This year - ladybirds and Wonderwoman are out the window and in their place a large, heavy, and very hot Rhino suit. Having chosen Save the Rhino to run for - it would seem obvious to run in one of their "world famous" rhino suits - then to not only run the Flora London Marathon, but the SIlverstone Half Marathon as a "warm up" - and then! - not to add too much pressure - to attempt the Guinness World Record for "fastest female to complete a marathon dressed as an animal". I decided to go the extra mile (excuse the pun), to help raise funds for this amazing charity - as not only does it do amazing work - but funds are used to the maximum benefit - with no policitcal campaigning - just pure conservation. So - come on - lets try and get some money for these amazing animals - so generations to come will still have the chance to see them alive. The charity does some amazing work, not only directly with reserves / breeding etc but also with education - so protecting not only rhinos - but other eco-linked species - preserving habitats to create a sustainable future - where animals thrive, and people can live side-by-side without having to hunt endangered animals. I usually say - I do the easy bit and you do the hard bit of giving money - but this year - I'm doing the hard bit - and you can do the easy bit!! I know you are all so very generous and I know between us we can reach the target sponsorship - and then Save the Rhino can achieve some of their aims. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Save the Rhino International gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
thanks in advance - and see you along the route!! - i'll be the Rhino with the pink bow!! lou x
