An enthralled audience watched The Lord Chamberlain’s Men perform "Much Ado About Nothing" on a warm summer’s evening. Yes – we were lucky enough to have the only sunny day in August for the event. It was even dry on Sunday and before each performance my nephews and niece, Miles (13) Murray (12) and Roxanne (11), captured all our hearts by singing and playing the piano, french horn and violin in full Elizabethan costume, as their way of helping to raise money.
As you may know in December 2006 I suffered two heart attacks. My rehabilitation back to full health was eased by the support offered by the British Heart Foundation through their work and publications. My wife, Jeannie and I both celebrate our 50th birthdays this year and wanted to celebrate by raising funds for the BHF. This fund raising event was a little different but we hope it was memorable.
All ticket sales went to the charity and everybody has raised nearly £4,000, at the time of writing. A BIG THANK YOU to all those who attended, contributed time or money and helped make the event so worthwhile. A special thanks to Gerald Leeke and his family for letting us use the Castle and the Vale Hotel, Golf and Spa Resort for all their assistance in staging what we hope will be a regular event.
We intend to invite back The Lord Chamberlain's Men next year when they will be performing "Twelfth Night" so if you enjoyed the event tell your friends and if you were not able to attend, we look forward to welcoming you all next year. Drop us a line if you want to be pre-release notification of dates at shakespeareathensolcastle@hotmail.com
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Even if you could not come to the play, please dig deep and donate online. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate. The British Heart Foundation will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
