I'm running Scotland's first Urbathon on Sunday 18th October 2009 in Edinburgh for Leukaemia Research and I'm aiming for £500. My Uncle (Ronnie McGhee) passed away in 2005 after suffering from Leukaemia and it is really for him that I've decided to take up the challenge. 'What is the Edinburgh Urbathon' you may ask... It’s a 10K with a twist - not only will I run, but jump, crawl, climb and who knows what else! It is essentially 'Parkour' (Urban Gymnastic Running) over a 10K distance through the city centre. The route starts at Arthurs Seat and goes throughout the city, obstacles and full route will be revealed on the day! Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Leukaemia Research gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. This will be the second of several callender events which I am competing in with the aim of making it to Triathalon status next year, hopefully in time for the Loch Ness Triathalon. The first event is the Hill Race at the Braemar Gathering on September 5th.
Any donation is greatly appreciated. Cheers Roy <watch the Urbathon video on the left for more info
***UPDATE Thanks to everyone who donated, i'm just shy of the £500 target but I know a few people still have to get round to donating. My time was 54:17 for the 10K run and 10 obsicles which took led me up and over Arthur's Seat twice, jumping over cars, doing handstands etc.
