Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. As many of you already know, my mum (pictured on the left) was diagnosed with ovarian cancer 2 years ago. After 2 years of chemotherapy the cancer spread and she sadly died very recently on 21 January 2009 at the age of 55.
I ran the London Marathon on Sunday 26 April 09 in memory of my mum. Unfortunately my knee gave way at mile 19 and caused me to collapse. However, after about 25 minutes of physio treatment in a physio tent I was able to put weight on my knee again and run, although very slowly and very painfully, and I completed the marathon in a total time of 5 hours 36 minutes. I have suffered with a knee injury for a while and I always knew it might play up so although my finish time was about an hour longer than I'd hoped for, in the end I was just really glad to actually complete it!
I have chosen to donate all money that I can raise to a charity called The Eve Appeal which aims to halve death rates from ovarian cancer. (Info about the charity is below). I am very close to reaching my target of £5,000 including gift aid so please sponsor me if you haven't already!!
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Eve Appeal gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you!
