Sorry - yet another plea for your hard earned money!
Must be the prospect of hitting 40 but I've foolishly decided to run the London marathon on April 23rd. Once again I will be raising funds for the National Autistic Society and my target is £1500. If you could dig deep and sponsor me online it really would be appreciated. Here's a few examples of what your money can do for the NAS, but remember THERE ARE NO LIMITS and every little counts!
£25 would pay for the first stage of training a Befriender who can help support families affected by autism. People with autism often want to make friends but due to their disability they find it difficult; a Befriender can help breakdown the isolation that autistic people often feel.
£75 would pay for 3 families to attend the NAS Earlybird programme that provides vital help and support to pre-school children with autism. Alison and I attended this course when George was first diagnosed; we learnt a lot and made several good friends.
£2500 would give an autistic person the opprtunity to gain full time supported employment. Companies taking part in the scheme include Boots, HSBC, Marks & Spencer and BT. Adults with autism say that finding a suitable job would improve their lives more than anything else so this scheme really can make a difference.
Many thanks for your continuing support, Paul.
NB: donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: National Autistic Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
