Thanks for visiting our fundraising page and taking time to understand why we are supporting Save the Children.
After researching into child sponsorship I realised that I wanted to help more than one child and so it was decided that we would work with Save the Children to help save a number of lives and provide a better future for those in far worse situations than ourselves.
We think it’s appalling that over 9 million children a year don’t make it to their fifth birthday. They’re dying of easily preventable diseases. In this day and age, that’s unacceptable.
About 4,500 people work for Save the Children UK in 52 countries around the world, including the UK. Work around the world includes running long-term programmes aimed at improving the lives of children.
So what next?
Well Rob and I will be carrying out a number of fund raising events to raise as much money as we can to beat our minimum target of £4500. To do this we need every penny you guys can spare, it all mounts up.
By now you may or may not need confirmation that YES we will be carrying out the biggest challenge of both our lives by treking the Great Wall of China in October 2010. As I write this commitment, panic sets in but this is our sacrafice to ensure these much needed funds are raised. To give you a glimpse of what is involved over the 9 day trek here are the 2 days that I'm rather worried about and those of you who know me will understand why.
"14 Watchtowers before lunch today! We have some steep steps tackle and then we cross a suspension bridge to the final watchtower. 6-7 hours
Up early for a sunrise walk along the Great Wall at Simatai. We climb more than 1200 steps today before we reach the finish line. 4 hours"
