Thank you for visiting my page! I am very excited to share this amazing opportunity with all of you. I truly need your support in more ways than one. In June 2008 I am heading off to Tanzania in Africa to climb Mt Kilimanjaro. The summit of Kilimanjaro is the highest point in Africa at 19,340 feet and it is the tallest free-standing mountain in the world. I'm climbing on behalf of the VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas) and in particular VSO's development work in East Africa. In Tanzania money raised by this years Kilimanjaro treks will help to improve access to, quality and relevance of education and HIV and AIDS services and to strengthen the ability of disadvantaged people to make a viable living. This is a once in a lifetime chance to raise money for a great cause, and at the same time test my own physical and mental ability. This is a link to a great article about Kilimanjaro with some cool pictures: http://travel.nytimes.com/2008/01/20/travel/20Explorer.html?ref=travel The picture on this page was taken during my first trip to Africa, when I visited my sister, Carla, in the Peace Corps. She lived in a village in West Africa and taught nutrition to pregnant and nursing mothers. I visited Carla in her village in 1992, and was inspired by the impact that one person can have on the lives of thousands. Please consider sponsoring me.
