| My personal message: |
Hi folks - thank you for visiting my fundraising page and to those who have already donated. Please feel free to do so online here if you haven't!
I did the Windsor Triathlon (750m swim in the Thames, 20K bike ride and 5K run) on Sunday 19th June in aid of Leukaemia Research.
The charity is close to my heart as our friends' son was diagnosed with leukaemia at one year old. He has been through chemotherapy and spent long spells at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Three years later, he is now in remission and doing well; several of the children in hospital with him were not so lucky. Research really is helping to improve treatment and increase survival rates for leukaemia sufferers.
About the race: It was a really hot day so I was quite pleased about the early start - 6.15am start in the river (despite 4.30am alarm call!) - and had finished the whole thing by just gone 8am, so luckily missed most of the really exhausting heat. It appears, when all the results came in, that I actually came 2nd in my category (admittedly, the not-very-glamorously-named "Veteran Sprint Female"!)
Donating through this site is simple, fast and secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Leukaemia Research Fund will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
Best wishes
Janet
