My personal message:

"Hello there! I must be mad (well you probably know that already) and will be running a half marathon in Newcastle this September. Last year I watched a friend complete the same course and was really moved to see thousands of people running for their many charities. 

I've signed up to run in the infamous banana army (for Leukaemia Research)...and whilst my sister would love to see me run in a banana outfit, I'm going to find it a challenge just to run in shorts & a T-shirt (sorry sis!).  Leukaemia Research developed the drugs to help a friend of mine fight the disease, so your donations will be going to help support this wonderful charity that does so much.
