At 8.00am on May 30th in Skipton , North Yorkshire , the four of us commence the most daunting challenge any of us have ever attempted , to walk 100km (62 miles) through the Yorkshire Dales National Park , including over 2,500m (8,000 feet) of climbing in under 30 hours!!  

Last year three of the team completed the Three Peaks Challenge (Ben Nevis , Scafell Pike & Snowdon) in under 23 hours however we are under no illusions this year's attempt will be much harder both mentally & physically. We have already completed a 34 mile training walk that was taxing to say the least & led Jeremy to be rescued after 25 miles by a pregnant woman. Ok , he did have a prior engagement , alledgedly!!

Update:- May 8th & we've completed a 60km(37mile) walk on the actual route in foul weather, rain,high winds & a hailstorm!! Fortunately we felt much better than the Chesterfield walk although the thought of having to complete a further 40km(25miles) is still a daunting prospect.

Update:- May 17th final training walk of any great length, 16 miles on the N Derbyshire/Notts border, got soaked 4 times & legs still felt heavy from the previous Friday, perhaps it's just hypochondria setting in? 13 days to go & we're all feeling increasingly apprehensive.

Update:- May 24th, Tim walked a steady 8 miles, no more than a couple of 3-4 milers now, Jeremy in Lake District with kids wanting to go up Scafell & Gordon is resting having twisted a knee Tuesday 5-a-siding !!!Let's hope it works, bit late to find a replacement, sure he'll be OK.

The event is organised by Oxfam & we are hoping to raise as much money as possible for this worthy charity , last year we raised almost £3,400 on behalf of Action for Children, like the walk itself we realise that in the current economic climate this may be difficult to match however any donation , great or small,will be gratefully received.
