I DID IT... but never again (or will I?)! Where... 4 of us all headed for London to meet friends and catch a West End Show - why not throw in a gentle 26.2mile jog for the fun of it! When... 13th April 2008 - sunny with cold blustery showers - coldest London Marathon on record! Why... Who knows??? How... Miles 0-4 were ran on adrenaline - then I panicked. Miles 4 - 12 were ran through a long and cold icey downpour - then I hit a very early wall. Miles 12-19 were shuffled in a slow bad tempered strop - then my famliy (who were supposed to be 200miles away watching the race on telly) came to surprise me. Miles 19-26 I was dragged along by a very Dodgy Geezer - a godsend to whom I give so much thanks! Winners... Unfortunately I was pipped to the post by The Pantomine Camel, Giant Can of London Ale, 3 Wonder Woman impersonators and 2 of the wombles - however I have the great glory of crossing the finish line a gigantic 40secs ahead of Uncle Bulgaria, the 3rd womble - I was just too fast for him! Wonder Woman... has now hung up her lassoo but would like give the 'cheerleaders' - Mali, Ruth, Rachel and babies the biggest cuddle in the world to say thankyou for listening to my groans of pain at every milestone! Special Thanks... goes to all you fab and wonderful friends and family who have sponsored me - together we have more than doubled my initial pledge to raise £500. You gave me the incentive to keep plodding when things got tough and each penny raised means the world to these orphans in Mukumbi. Thank you all so much. Still time... For those of you still wanting to pledge, donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Charity will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Thanks again to everyone - especially my family who have been surviving through much hardship and neglect for the past 4months and just to let you know that Wonder Woman has found marathon running too exhausting so has disignated her entry for the 2009 London Marathon Ballot to Kerry - watch this space...
