Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. You'd think I'd know better at my age, but the forms have been signed and returned, it's too late now!!! Training is underway, difficult at times, and sometimes I wonder why I'm doing this! I will be running this years London Marathon raising funds for Dogs for the Disabled. I have to say, the prospect of fundraising is almost as daunting as the run itself!! I have decided to run in aid of these brilliant dogs as they do a fantastic job in giving disabled adults and children the help they need to live more independently, and in some cases the will to continue living. They are not only trained in practical tasks such as opening and closing doors, switching lights on and off, retrieving dropped or out of reach items, but with the help of special harnesses, they can even help a person with balance difficulties to walk. As dogs constantly receive a bad press, it is refreshing to see the incredible difference these dogs can make to peoples' lives. The charity is not Government funded and relies totally on donations to continue its work. To give you an idea of what it costs to train a dog - £750 to purchase a puppy (and a placement in a foster home for a year), and approx £5000 to sponsor the training of a dog right through to being matched and partnered with a disabled child or adult. To find out more about Dogs for the Disabled log on to their website: www.dogsforthedisabled.org Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Dogs For The Disabled will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So PLEASE sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support. Karen Croad xx
