Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I need the support of people who know me in order to complete a once in a lifetime challenge to help make a positive and lasting difference to the lives of some of the poorest members of the global community. On 21st July I set off with another 80 participants to cycle 300 miles from London to Paris. The event lasted for a duration of 4 days with an average distance of 75 miles per day being covered. As aniticipated the bike ride tested my fitness, willpower and mental strength. It was also a test for my bike! On Day 1 the front tire burst, on Day 2 a gear cable came asunder and on Day 3 I lost my mini computer. Neverthless I managed to make it to Paris successfully and in one piece as demonstrated in the picture on this page.. Having lasted the course the final challenge is to complete my fund raising for Christian Aid. If you would like to sponsor me or indeed if you would like to make a further contribution or you think of someone else who would like to do so then there is still time as my fund doesn`t close until 20th September 2010. The cost of my participation in the Bike Ride was £600 and I have already made a donation to cover this and so all of the other donations made will go to Christian Aid. By sponsoring me you will enable Christian Aid to fulfill its commitment to tackling poverty and injustice. Some information about Christian Aid is provided on this web page. Christian Aid just doesn`t give people "aid" it also delivers real benefit on the ground. For example Christian Aid is providing emergency relief to people in Pakistan following the terrible flooding there. It also initiates long term development projects such as helping communities to get clean water.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Christian Aid gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. The 2010 London to Paris Bike Ride has the potential to help Christian Aid to make a significant difference to poor communities around the world. Both Christian Aid and I would really appreciate any donation that you can make. Many thanks in anticipation of your support. Best wishes, Jonathon
