Oh my - I actually did it!! And, it wasn't as hard as I thought, thanks to many lovely gents who let me shelter behind them and esp those who escorted me to my hotel - very much apprectiated! A huge, huge thanks to all at home who helped along the way, I couldn't have done it without you. What on earth will we talk about on Tuesday mornings in 'The Office....' or Wednesday lunch in the Barking Dog???? What an experience! Let's never give up trying to make the perceived impossible, possible:- POVERTY Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
This summer I will be cycling 300 miles from London to Paris with over 100 other mad people! I only have 4 days to get there, if I take any longer I may well be overtaken by a man in a yellow jersey.... It's the biggest challenge I've ever undertaken - between now and July I'll be doing over 1000 miles training! Which is a lot of coffee stops and a lot of singing. So far I've done over 850 miles.... Last Saturday I found myself visiting a very special place in Killyleagh called 'Picnic' they served very good friands (?) and strong coffee, just what the doctor ordered. Following the consumption of friand and coffee, the singing deterioated rapidly.... May 11th:- Hill training has begun and not a coffee shop in sight! More hill training tomorrow... May 25th First 100 miles this weekend! and, a very nice toastie. There are only 3 of us from Northern Ireland taking part so far, that's myself, Jane Savage (lyric / hill queen) and Cherry Knight. Thanks to all who took part in the Santa Cycle at Christmas, we have a few other events coming up - more news to follow! Thanks to all in MCB who have supported me - good luck with all your revsion!! You can do it! This year's wine tasting was a very fine affair, video evidence has yet again been collected..... We raised £170! Cheers (don't forget eye contact ladies...)! For those of you who are Abba and singing fans (there are many), there is a special showing of Mamma Mia organised for 23rd June. Buses may well be needed to transport the masses... Mamma Mia is now sold out!! Thanks to all who bought tickets, you will have a great night! Why am I doing this challenge? I'm doing this in memory of my mum who just couldn't bear to see others suffer, even though in her latter days she suffered lots herself. Now that I've started cycling, I'm pretty addicted! I've been using the resources provided by Christian Aid lots in school and their work just leaves me speechless. I think it's their policy to work with partner organisations which makes their aid schemes so effective. Take a look at their web-site and you'll see what I mean. www.christianaid.org.uk/ 'It is a poverty to decide that a child might die so that you may live as you wish' Mother Teresa I know that I cannot eradicate poverty in the world, but by doing this challenge, hopefully I'll raise funds for Christian Aid and also raise awareness of the work they do. The cost of this adventure is £600 which I will be paying myself, so please be assured that every penny you give goes directly to Christian Aid. Thanks for your support! Jenny
