My story

Hello and thank you for visiting my just giving page.  Some of you will know me and maybe some of you won’t so I thought I’d tell you a bit about why I’m trying to run the 2010 London Marathon..

.

I’m a thirty-something man who’s squidgy round the middle. Every April I sat on the sofa in my dressing gown watching the London marathon thinking... ‘maybe, just maybe I could do that’.  Of course I never actually did anything about it, but I felt good thinking I might!

In early 2009 things changed for me and my brothers.  In the space of a few weeks our immortal dad went from a bit poorly to emergency coronary by-pass.  But we were lucky… the NHS caught him at the right time and performed what can only be described as a miracle.  A testament to the skill of everyone involved in the treatment and care of cardiac patients today.

And that’s where this story starts.  In April 2009 I sat in my dressing gown and thought ‘I will do that, I owe them that much’.  So I joined the BHF running team to run the London marathon for them.  I’m running to say thank you to the cardiac care team at Nottingham City Hospital.  I’m running to say thank you to all the people who’ve driven cardiac care forward.  But above all I’m running for my friends, my family and my wonderful dad.

Thank you in advance for your donations.  I only hope that any money I raise can help give another family the most precious gift in the world… time together with those you love.
