My personal message:

Be a part of a new and incredible World record!

Imagine yourself ironing for five hours.
Now imagine yourself running the 2004 Flora London Marathon.

For most of us, neither of these is a particularly inspiring thought.

Imagine doing both. At the same time.

On April 18th 2004, I will attempt the World’s first Extreme Ironing Marathon, running 26.4 miles with an iron and ironing board. I will iron the creases out of a sponsor’s T-shirt as I cross the finishing line.
I need you support. Establishing this new World record should help raise as much money as possible for SPARKS, the charity I have been fundraising for in the last three years. SPARKS (www.sparks.org.uk) is a charity dedicated to raising money for medical research into infant health. With their support doctors are able to continue vital work for example, development of an anti tumour therapy using cells from the immune system and a study into corrective treatment for cerebral palsy. By attracting the support of some of the UK’s top sports personalities and organising a whole host of activities throughout the year, these types of projects should be set to continue with the help of SPARKS. Last year I raised over £780 pounds by competing in the London Triathlon in August. This was made possible by two factors, the generosity of all those who contributed (my warmest thanks to you) and the easy to use sponsorship page I created at www.justgiving.com/ironmanbagwell. With my training well underway, I now need to generate as much support and awareness for my attempt as possible. I will be working tirelessly over the next few weeks to appear everywhere with my sponsored ironing board; in the local press, National press and on TV. How can you help? Please sponsor me and I’ll add your name or your company logo to the ironing board. if you prefer to sponsor me offline please contact me directly, either by phone (+44 7901 555536) or by email at m.bagwell@syzygy.net How will you benefit? You’ll be recognised as part of a remarkable new World Record and with an emerging global phenomena, Extreme Ironing. Find out more about Extreme ironing at www.extremeironing .com Also, every £10 you donate guarantees you another ticket in a prize draw that will take place just minutes after I complete the race. The Prize? The iron of course and I can guarantee it will only have been used once!
