My story
The Ladies of Hampstead are taking on the mammoth 54 miles that is the London to Brighton Bike Ride raising monies for the British Heart Foundation on behalf of Peter Jones.
Peter, father of Anna Jones who plays for the Hampstead Ladies Rugby Club, sadly passed away on the 28th December 2009 at the age of 64 after battling all his life with congenital heart disease. He underwent his first procedure in 1963 and survived 5 open heart surgeries and 3 pioneering cardiac procedures. It was thanks to the results of research undertaken and funded by the British Heart Foundation that he lived as long as he did - he was a medical marvel and many of the techniques used to further his life were research and new initiatives supported by the BHF.
We hope that you will give generously to a charity that supports research; support groups (such as the Grown Up Congenital Heart Association of which Peter was a Trustee); help lines and health advice for the millions suffering from heart disease; and bereavement counselling for friends and family like Anna and her siblings Sara and James.
We'll see you at the finishing line in Brighton (hopefully!) for a beer or two and fish and chips on the beach!
