About my charity
:
WellChild
WellChild is the national charity for sick children and provides practical help for children and their families as they deal with serious illness and complex conditions.
Funded solely by the people of the UK, for more than 30 years, WellChild has been instrumental in saving the lives of thousands of sick children across a range of conditions covering the three key areas of:
Care - WellChild has created a team of WellChild Children's Nurses who work with sick children and their families in the community to give care and practical support to children living at home with complex care needs.
Support - To provide practical and tangible support to young people and families, WellChild has created its Helping Hands scheme which enlists the practical support of volunteers right across the country to tackle one-off projects in the homes of sick children.
Research - WellChild's dedication to helping sick children both now and in the future is shown by the charity's investment of more than £20 million in life-changing and ground-breaking children's health research projects.

| My personal message: |
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. Why have I chosen to run the London Marathon in support of Well Child?
My sister Debbie has three children, Megs and Harry both of whom were born with a serious genetic condition which has left them both severely disabled and an older daughter Ellie who was born without the condition....you can see Ellie in the picture receiving an award for child carer of the year.
I've seen first hand the support Well Child have given Debbie, Megs, Harry and Ellie and I wanted to do something to recognise the fantastic love and support they show each other and to raise some money for a truly wonderful charity.
Here's what Ellie thinks (apart from the fact that I'm too old and fat to run 26 miles!)......."Meg and Harry both have an undiagnosed condition are registered blind and cannot walk or talk. They need constant care but are both extremely happy and are loved by everyone they meet. Well Child has helped our family as it has provided great oppurtunities for us. Just one practical example is how they helped design our garden in a way that my sister and brother can play safely in it."
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: WellChild gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
