My story
Thank goodness that's over! I can report that I am still alive, though barely mobile. Quite pleased with my time of 3hrs 20mins (and coming in 3,328th out of 33,000). Of course it's all down to you generous supporters!
If you haven't given yet, donations are accepted until 23 June....

Many of you will know VSO already. VSO send volunteers who live and work with local communities in some of the poorest countries across Africa and Asia. They offer skills that are in short supply - teachers, teacher-trainers, doctors, nurses, engineers. I've come across VSO organisers and volunteers in Vietnam and other places I've lived in and visited, and been impressed and humbled by their dedication and enthusiasm in often pretty unenviable conditions.
I'm also struck by how most of the fundraising for the London Marathon is devoted to domestic UK charities. All thoroughly deserving. But Britain is home to 60 million of the richest people on the planet. The several billion people overseas living on a pound or two a day could do with your help too.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: VSO will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. Please click on the red button above to sponsor me.
If you'd like to make a donation but would prefer not to do so on-line, please call me on (+44) (0)797 108 3317or e-mail me at fishersimon@yahoo.com
Many thanks for your support!
Simon
