Hi, and thanks for visiting my fundraising page. Well, I completed the Edinburgh Marathon in roasting hot conditions (in Scotland?! Who knew?!?), in 4 hours 11 minutes and 16 seconds. The picture on the left is me feeling the pain, around the 23-mile mark. Pretty, huh?! Still, I haven't stopped training - because next up is the Great North Run (and watch this space for news of further marathon entries... subject to Jo's approval of course).
If all of this amuses you enough to make you want to donate a few quid to a great cause, this here is the place. But just to be up front about it - I'm not running FOR the sponsorship. I'm running because (bizarrely) I quite enjoy the challenge (the weight loss - 20kg so far - doesn't hurt either)... so PLEASE don't feel compelled to give anything. However, a few people had mentioned that they would like to give some money if I'd nominate a suitable cause... and the J's is an excellent charity. Hospice care for young adults is long overdue.
Besides, I had the immense good fortune to know Jonathan Whiffin. He was always such an active, positive young man - amazing, when you consider the challenges he faced. If my wobbling around the streets of Edinburgh, Newcastle and wherever can be of some help to other young people like Jonathan - and their families - then that's a fantastic bonus. They have a huge amount of money to raise, so if you were thinking of donating a pound or two, it would be a really good option. Cheers. (Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The J's Hospice gets your money faster and, if you’re a taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation).
