It's been a couple of years since my running debut in the Great North Run - which was all my sister's fault having secretly signed me up! I didn't do running. Despite that, running 13 miles didn't put me off and I've been running ever since. Looking for a new challenge I foolishly applied for one of Network Rail's London Marathon places. Unfortunately I got it and I'm now frantically training for the big day. My part is to run 26.2 miles. Your's is to sponsor me..... My aim is to raise more than I did last time. It will be a tall order as the total reached over £8000. All the money will go to the Cancer Care and Haematology Fund. The reason? Easy. As a paid up member of the Hodgkin's Lymphoma club I spent six months being looked after by the Cancer Care team at Stoke Mandeville and they are an amazing bunch working with limited resources. I enjoyed it so much I still go back every six months to have another go at being used as a pin cushion! Since my course of Chemo the fund has enabled the unit to expand and help more patients get through the cancer experience. When you do donate, which is unbelievably easy, don't forget to Gift Aid the money if you are lucky enough to be a UK tax payer.... So, what are you waiting for?
