News Update!! Manpower Software (the market leader in staff rostering software solutions) have pledged £5k to ‘Madelaines’ fundraising campaign for Leukaemia Research in this years RTI Race. On behalf of Manpower Software Allan Swan said: “We are pleased to be supporting ‘Madelaines’ chosen charity in the second largest sporting event in the country, the Round the Island Race 2008. We wish the team on board a safe and fast passage as they attempt to raise a record amount for charity and move closer to a record number of wins in this event.” Also this week I will be discussing the campaign with Leukaemia research to see what we can do to raise more funds in the time left to the race. In the RTI race every second counts, in leukaemia research every penny counts in the race to find cures for this disease. I will report back on progress on this and other fundraising initiatives before 28 June 2008. Thanks for your support! News update!! ISS-Mediclean have pledged £5k support. Director of Business Development Tom Wild said: " ISS-Mediclean is proud to be associated with such a prestigious race and the fund raising efforts of Madelaine for Leukaemia Research. Good luck to Ed Donald and the team for the RTI race 2008 - records are there to be broken!" News Update! A personal donor has pledged £5k support. Thank you for visiting my fund raising page. This year I am racing Round the Island aiming to win the Gold Roman Bowl for a 3rd time, which will equal the record posted by Rosina and Morning Cloud. I would also like to raise a record amount, £50,000! for my selected charity, Leukaemia Research. Why Leukaemia Research? 7 years ago I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma (a blood borne cancer). Thanks to their research, I received gold standard care. After 6 months of chemotherapy and a month of radiotherapy I was cured. Today I live life to the full and am able to pursue my hopes and ambitions whilst being a dad to my two girls (they are in the white T-shirts in the photo).
Children with cancer are more likely to have a blood borne cancer than any other. Every penny we raise together will bring new research breakthroughs and new treatments, giving hope to those unfortunate enough to be diagnosed with this type of cancer. My youngest daughter Isobella is a 1 in 5 million chance, conceived after my cancer treatment. My elder daughter Madelaine (who the boat is named after) helped me through my cancer treatment. At my lowest point I promised to win the most ever Round the Island races and to live to see my daughter grow up. Today I have the chance to do Round the Island with my daughters into my 80s, thanks to the treatment I received. We are 2 wins away from becoming the record holders for most victories in Round the Island.
So please help us to do something special for children with Leukaemia who don’t have a cure yet by donating today. And if we win Round the Island this year I will ask the title sponsors to double whatever we raise at the prize giving!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Leukaemia Research will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
