My story

Okay, this is me on the Mall during the 2007 London Marathon. I am NOT on the phone to my broker but to my son, Gus, who told me to call him when I was near the finish and he would turn on the telly and watch. Well, after over 6 exhausting hours, I'm not sure the TV coverage was still running - as you can see from this photograph, I certainly wasn't!

So, after raising over £20,000 last year for projects in Africa and Guyana, the 2008 Wombles Team are running again and I would like to ask for your sponsorship for my project which is the same as last year (and 2006 when I was injured just 2 days before the run), namely Makumbi School in Zimbabwe where I taught in 1970.

The school is doing well, despite extremely difficult circumstances with daily power cuts and food shortages. To see where your money is going, I urge you to visit www.silentnight2007.com and, if this doesn't make you cry, well, you just haven't got a heart.

Just £10 pays for one child for one term at Makumbi, so please support me and my personal cause for just one more time. And I'll try to beat 6 hours this year!
