THANK YOU - THANK YOU - THANK YOU Thanks to everyone who has donated both online and off to get us past the target and the total now stands at a whopping 2526.68!!! -Update 12th November 2007 I'm back!!!! All done and sanded ;) Thanks to everyone who has shown their support both with sponsorship and good wishes. I'll update properly with details about the trip and pics at some point soon - until then, please keep the sponsorship cash coming in :D -Dario -Update 1st November 2007-Less that 48 hours to go before we fly out to the Sahara and I'm still trying to get as much sponsorship as possible. Thank you to everyone that's donated both online and offline (I'll tally up the off line stuff fully and put a list of names of everyone up when I get back). For those who haven't sponsored me yet - PLEASE DO :) -Update 14 August 2007- Almost at the 70% marker guys I just need that bit more help to get there. For those that don't know I need to get 70% of the total amount by the end of this month (28th) or the event doesn't happen. Thanks to everyone that has given money off line, ( especially to Kirsty for a whopping £200!!! - Thank you xxx ) - I've put the total to date and it's really helped get closer to the target -so come on, just a little bit further! -Update 31 July 2007- Apologies to anyone who received a text from my multiple times. It seems when I send out a text to several people my phone goes a bit mental :/ -Update 30 July 2007- Training's going well, I've been doing the 4am rain soaked 9.5 mile jogs into work regularly. Planning a couple of Lake District and Peak District treks in upcoming weeks. Currently breaking in my new Altama Desert Books - Many thanks to John Tandy for organising the donation, and to Altama.Com for the boots. At the moments the boots are breaking me in, more than I'm breaking them but I'll get them to submit in time :) Find raising is getting closer but still a long way to go and a short time to get there. I need to get 70% of the sponsorship by the end of next month. Many thanks to all those who have given so far - I really do appreciate it. Also thanks to those who have been hassling their work colleagues to raise sponsorship for me :D (Chewie and Kirsty have just got to me with donations from their work, and a few more wonderful volunteers are hitting their poor unsuspecting colleagues). Donations from the nick keep coming in which I'll be putting on the site soon so everyone can see how close we're getting. To all those who haven't donated yet - Please help - just click the button :D ----- -NEW VISITORS PLEASE READ- Thank's for coming guys - I really need your help. I know that despite the Blair/Brown claim that the economy is booming, money is often tight, and I know it's difficult to dig deep but I really need you to try. As some of you may know my cousin died recently of Muscular Dystrophy, a crippling genetic disease that stops children from enjoying even the most basic things such as running around and playing with other children. The things that make childhood. A lot of them never even survive to see childhood, dying in infancy. No one thought she would survive as long as she did, but she was a strong girl, and fought all her life. She survived until she was twenty-five, being in a wheel chair since she was a child, and at the end only being kept alive by ventilators. She would never have been able to do this trip. Her body had essentially been broken since she was a child. She could not do the things the rest of us take for granted. She couldn't walk, let alone trek in the blazing sun over dunes in the Sahara desert. I am able bodied, so I can, and I am going to. I intend to trek across the Sahara desert to raise money in her memory for all the other children that are going to die, slowly and painfully, unless more treatment is made available. Please help me. I know it's a lot to ask but it's charity and I'm asking. Dig deep, raid those bottle jars, and piggy banks, get your friends, and companies to give money, use those extra notes you find magically appear sometimes in old jacket pockets, and sponsor me for this ridiculous thing I'm about to do. As anyone who has actually seen me in the sun will know, I am not just likely to go lobster red in the blazing desert sun but actually catch on fire (the joys of being a red-head ;) This challenge is worth it, the cause is a good one, and I will appreciate every amount of money you can donate. This site is great, and recommended by the campaign. It's quick, easy and secure to donate and it's also the most efficient way to sponsor me the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign will receive your money faster and, if as a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please sponsor me now! Thanks guys, I know you're all skint but double figures would be great, triple and quadruple would be even better for anyone with companies or just spare cash lying around :) Use it for something truly amazing.
PS: And for those friends of mine of an extremely competitive nature (you know who you are), what better way to get that competitive edge going that to out sponsoring everyone else ;) In fact, at the end of the fund raising I will give a prize (to be announced) to the person and organisation that donates the most. How’s that for a challenge ;)
