(Many thanks to William Burrell- for his very generous cheque of 500 pounds! His message -

'where you boldly go...your godson will happily stay at home! ...good luck'

The Team-

Thank you for taking the time and following the link here!

In early July this summer a team of 6 will be setting out to climb Mont Blanc in aid of MSF.

Team is made up of-

Ned Salisbury - DTZ

   Location - Paris

   Job- Surveyor

Reason for the climb? - Its going to be a great challenge.

Why should people donate? Because its an awesome cause!

Nick Sloane - Credit Suisse

   Location - Zurich

Job-  'mild mannered private banker during the week, once out of my telephone booth at weekends an enthusiastic, but sadly untalented freerider..."

Reason for the climb? - "Brilliant way of combining a challenge and doing something for 2 great causes- ie reducing my waistline... Also get to use sharp, heavy and dangerous-looking equipment".

Why should people donate? "Apart from the terrific causes, because the more we raise the less excuse Neil has for backing out..."

Dylan Batten - CBRE

   Location - Paris

   Job- Surveyor

Reason for the climb? - 'I'm told there's a good view from the top'

Why should people donate? "Given the amazing responses so far, it seems to go without saying!"

Neil Collins - BNP paribas

   Location - Zurich

   Job- Banking

Reason for the climb? - "Because if I didnt Nick would whine and its easier to climb a mountain than put up with his incessant whinging!"

Why should people donate? "Because its a great cause, and...I'm worth it."

Corby Bacco - MITRE

    Location - Darmstadt

Job-  Network & Distributed systems Engineer- (IT geek)

Reason for the climb? - "Because its something I've been thinking of doing since I moved to Europe 10 years ago and this way we get to help to raise money for charity along the way (and because it beats the heck out of a day in the office!)"

Why should people donate? "Because the chosen charities truly are worthy and do a fantastic job of getting resources to those who need it most."

Sten Bertelsen - SGS

   Location - Global

   Job-  Risk Management

Reason for the climb? - "Heaven and Hell"

Why should people donate? - "so much trouble in the world, we all have got to give a little".

You can follow our training progress via this link- where Neil has kindly collected all our photos and made them available for all to see.

About the climb…

Our route up Mont Blanc is not a technical climb, but the altitude does make it difficult- because of this we  will be doing a training week up to 4000m to acclimatise and to test gear before the final climb. We will be using 2-3 guides for the group as we believe this is essential to a successful climb.

About MSF-

Médcins Sans Frontières is one of the most relevant and effective aid organizations around today, particularly considering the unstable and dangerous conditions in many parts of the world.

MSF workers can be found in over 70 countries, in many of the most dangerous, deprived and inhospitable locations, continually bringing medical care to those in need, regardless of nationality or religion. Their duties involve, but are not limited to, emergency medical care, field surgery, education, sanitation and vaccination programs. They make a huge difference to thousands of lives.

It means so much to us that you have taken the time to look at this page- please, please help us to reach our target.

Every penny raised makes a difference to someones life.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure.

It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Médecins Sans Frontières UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

In addition to the raising of money for MSF, Nick is keen to promote another charity as well called 'Kids of Africa' which provides care for orphans in Africa- because of the effort he has put in into helping to organise this trip and to make it possible its only fair to include the below link for the charity- so for those who might prefer to donate to a smaller charity, then please follow the link below and have a look at their online donations page. Any donations to KidsofAfrica should please be accompanied with the text 'Mont Blanc'- Thanks. http://www.kidsofafrica.com/www2/html/?s=6&p=0

Thank you!
