Many thanks to you all who have donated both on and off line to this fund raising: it has been a huge success, we have raised over double our target and made a really useful contribution to the Missions. The race day was a tremendous experience: everything you have ever heard about the enthusiasm and support of the crowd is doubly true, and the sense of mutual encouragement amongst the runners is fantastic. I managed to finish in a reasonably respectable 4:45:27, and I can tell you, you jolly well got your money's worth! Many thanks!

I was prompted to run the London Marathon by the example of my son Giles, who is spending his gap year working with children in a remote corner of Guyana, South America. The educational project that he is working on is only one of many organised by Jesuit Missions: as well as Guyana their work extends to many projects in Africa, in Zimbabwe and Zambia, Congo, Tanzania and South Africa. The pounds we raise here can make a powerful difference to the lives of the young and underprivileged in those countries.
