Thanks for visiting our fundraising page. We are running the Great North Run on Sunday 5 October. We run it most years (for fun!), but this year is different because we are running on behalf of Leukaemia Research and we would be extremely grateful if you would sponsor us. We are running in memory of Andy MacAlpine, who died three months ago from a rare form of Leukaemia, aged only 28. I had known Andy since he was about 8, when I coached him at cricket. He was a multi-talented sportsman; as a junior he played cricket for Cheshire (thanks to his ability rather than my coaching), lacrosse for Cheshire and football for Stockport Boys. He was 1st team captain at our lacrosse club last season. We won our division, but Andy was unable to play in the last few matches. As you can imagine, the lacrosse club has been devastated by the loss, but that pales into insignificance against his family’s loss. I know his Mum and Dad and his brother very well and we are doing this for them and Rachel. The plan is to run in full lacrosse kit, so I don’t think we’ll be setting any PBs. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Leukaemia Research gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor us now! Thanks very much, Jon & Phil
