My personal message:

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

I wasn't expecting to get into the London Marathon this year so it's a bit of a bonus, if running 26 miles 385 yards can ever be described as a bonus!

I have decided to run for the MS Society so I can dye my hair orange (those of you that saw the green hair in the Great North Run will know what I mean!) but mainly because they do such a fantastic job for those suffering from Multiple Sclerosis. If you are kind enough to sponsor me your money will help to provide specialist MS nurses; freephone MS helpline; grants for home adaptation, mobility aids, education and training and funding around 70 vital research projects in the UK.

There is currently no cure for this common (around 1 in 700 people suffer) disabling neurological disorder which mainly affects young adults but with your help there may well be one day and in the meantime we can make life just that little bit easier for sufferers.

It is 20 years since I last ran a marathon and as I've done little or no execise in the intervening years until recently, I'm not expecting it to be easy and I suspect that advancing years have done nothing to help my cause but if I can get within 45 minutes of the time in the picture I'll be delighted! I'm going to be training as hard as I can in the next four months and knowing that you are out there supporting me with your donations will certainly help to ease the pain!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: MS Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
