My personal message:

Dear friends and family,

Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page. I am going to attempt to cycle 140 miles from London to Copenhagen between the 9 - 16 December. I am not exactly the most sporty person in the world (as you probably already know!) so this is a major goal for me. I am doing this sponsored bike ride to help raise funds for Christian Aid's work with poor people around the world, and adding my voice to the campaign for climate justice by joining campaigners as the UN holds its vital summit on global warming.

I would love it if you would sponsor me... I'm aiming for £2000, but I would love it to be more. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Christian Aid gets your money directly, faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

September update:

So, the training has begun! I have been getting to work on training for the big event and so far, its going well. I'm really enjoy getting to know east London (and hopefully soon... beyond!) by riding around. I haven't had any scary encounters yet either... so here's hoping that continues. I have got a bit lost, but that's OK... more miles on the odometer!

Just thought I'd mention that I've decided to be a 'self-funding' cyclist for the ride to Copenhagen. That means that I will pay for all the costs of the ride and none of the money that I raise will go towards the cost of the trip: every last penny will go straight to Christian Aid. So go on, sponsor me and help Christian Aid in its work to overcome poverty.

December update:

Tomorrow is the big day! I will be setting off early in the morning to head up to the meeting point near Stansted airport (ironic) to start our big ride. A huge thank you to you all for sponsoring me... and if you haven't yet and would like to, I can accept donations via this webpage until March 2010..! :) I'll be taking photos along the route, so I'll share these when I get back to the UK. Bye..!
