My story
I have survived, dare I say enjoyed, a great adventure with VSO in Cambodia, and returned to UK mid-June. The experience is well described in my blog at brechdan.wordpress.com which I intend to continue updating as long as I have active involvement with Cambodia though not as often as I did whilst I was there.
Most of the people I trained with are still there as they have 1-2 year assignments and others have left or are leaving the UK through the remainder of 2011 for various destinations and challenges organised by VSO. Sadly large donors such as DFID are cutting back on their contributions putting pressure on organisations like VSO and causing cut backs in projects which directly or indirectly impact on the welfare of the poor, marginalised and disadvantaged living in the resource-poor world.
Please consider still donating through Justgiving. Your donation goes directly to VSO and is quick, easy and totally secure. VSO gets your money faster through Justgiving and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Best wishes to you all!
Adrian
